* Don’t always chase draws every time you have the chance to hit a straight or flush because you’ll go broke quickly. Slow playing aces or kings can be deadly because you never know what can come on the flop and you’ll never know what your opponent limped with because they could have limped with a wide variety of hands pre-flop. You should always throw in a small raise and try taking 1-2 opponents to the flop and see what comes of it.
* If you lose a big hand and you notice that you’re going on tilt the best option is often to get up and walk away from the tables. You can come back the next time to try and win your money back, but trying to win it back once you’re on tilt is a bad decision and you should try to avoid this from happening to you.
* The best poker players over the long run are players who are tight and play aggressive when they are in a pot. You don’t want to play a wide selection of hands because it costs too much money to see flops all the time. Instead you should play a tight selection of starting hands and raise when you’re playing pots.
* Don’t allow any of the other players at the table to get under your skin in a live game. A lot of the time people drink at the table and will get out of line with players, but you should just keep out of the mess and ignore these players as best you can. It will take away from your focus which will most likely make you lose money while playing due to not paying attention.
